Privacy Policy — Gmail Auto Dark Mode
Last Updated: June 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the “Gmail Auto Dark Mode” Chrome Extension (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) handles your information.
1. Data Collection and Usage
Gmail Auto Dark Mode is designed with privacy as a primary focus. This extension collects no data of any kind. It does not read, store, or transmit any email content, personally identifiable information (PII), browsing behavior, or history. No cookies or local/session storage are used, and the extension does not communicate with any external server or third-party service.
All processing happens entirely within your browser. The extension only injects CSS style adjustments into Gmail (mail.google.com) and its integrated Google companion apps and subframes (such as chat.google.com, keep.google.com, calendar.google.com, contacts.google.com, tasks.google.com, assistant.google.com, drive.google.com, docs.google.com, ogs.google.com, ogb.google.com, and www.google.com when loaded inside Gmail) and reads the OS-level color scheme preference (prefers-color-scheme) to decide whether to apply dark mode styles.
2. Permissions Required and Why We Need Them
Gmail Auto Dark Mode requires Host Permissions for the aforementioned Google domains to function correctly:
- Host Permissions: Allows the extension to inject CSS styles and counter-inversion rules into Gmail and its integrated side panel panels to change their visual appearance based on your system’s color scheme preference. No other permissions are requested.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties. Because this extension collects no data whatsoever, there is nothing to share or expose.
4. Your Rights and Control
This extension stores no data, so there is nothing to delete or export. You can fully remove any trace of it by uninstalling the extension from your browser.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date.
